Charles Jean-Baptiste Collin-Mézin fils, Paris 1923
Charles Jean-Baptiste Collin-Mézin fils (b.1870, d.1934) was the son of one of the preeminent luthiers of his time and, like his father, was named, “Officier de l’Académie des Beaux-Arts” in 1911. Following his father’s death in 1923, he relocated the workshop to Mirecourt (although he continued using "Paris" on his labels) and his work became increasingly personal and individualistic as we see in this example. This instrument is in wonderful condition and reflects the maker’s meticulous workmanship. It boasts a spectacular one-piece back and a luminous velvety tone.
