An Early 20th Century Violin German Interpretation of Maggini
A beautiful German interpretation of the great Brescian maker, Giovanni Paolo Maggini (b. c.1580, d. c. 1631). This violin was likely made prior to the 1930’s and features beautiful wood, doubled purfling and the famous triple-turned scroll which so many Maggini interpretations possess. Maggini’s actual scrolls are quite varied and are generally “under-turned” with only one or two examples knows to have this “over-turned” effect. This violin has a generous sound with great response. It’s in wonderful condition and would serve as a great “player’s instrument”.
