Out of State Rent-To-Own
(Available in all states but Utah and California)
Charles W. Liu Fine Violins now offers a out of state Rent-to-Own program for residents outside of the state of Utah and California!
Not only are our instruments far superior in many ways to most rentals, but our out of state program is completely INTEREST FREE, with 100% of your payments going towards the purchase price of your instrument! We are the only out of state online rental company offering this in the United States!
Our hand-made Paganini violins and violas are of the highest quality. They are fully hand carved and crafted with care by our highly qualified staff. Each rental comes complete with case, brazilwood bow (Glasser by request) and rosin. The instrument may be sent new or used—but always in good, playable condition. If taken care of, used instruments often sound and play better than a brand new one.
If you would like to apply for our Out of State Rent-to-Own program, please download the PDF file with the link below and either email (violins@finestringinstruments.com) or fax (801-255-3965) your completed application to us. Requirements and Benefits
This rental program works similarly to our in-store rental programs. It is designed with ownership in mind, but you may return the instrument to us at any time. There are only a few things we will need from you to begin.
- Initial Payment To begin renting, we require payment for the first three months, plus a one-time $15 shipping charge. If you opt in to one of our extended repair coverage programs, you will also pay the applicable fees for the first three months with your initial payment. This payment will be processed the day we ship your instrument to you.
- Automatic Payment You must provide us with a current credit or debit card that we can use for automatic payments for your rental. These payments will be processed each month, on the same day as the initial payment, beginning after the first three months have passed.
- Credit Check As with all our rental programs, we ask that you submit to a standard credit check. Depending on the results, you may be asked to include a fully refundable deposit with the initial payment.
Once you have completed your forms, please send them directly to us. Please allow 5-7 days to approve, prepare, and ship the rental instrument to you after we have received your application. Your initial payment will be processed the day we ship it to you, and the automatic payments will be done on the same day every month, beginning in the fourth month.
Purchasing
You can always buy the instrument early, if you wish. Your payments are applied directly toward the purchase price, and at any time, you can contact us and pay the remaining balance. At that point, the instrument is yours! You may keep it or use 100% of your principal (minus a $50 fee) towards trading to a larger size, or a better quality instrument!
Returning/Contract Termination
Alternatively, if for any reason you no longer need the instrument, you can ship it back to us at any time. Please contact us so that we know it is on its way. As soon as we receive it, and as long as it is still in good, playable condition, your contract will be fulfilled and you will no longer need to make payments. Remember: you are still required to make payments until we have received it, and you are responsible for any charges for damages while it is in your possession or during shipping.
Trading Up
When your musician outgrows their instrument, we offer an excellent trade-up policy. Contact us with the new size you need, and we will send you the new instrument within 5-7 days. You will need to send us the old instrument as soon as the new one arrives, and cover shipping for the return. As soon as we get it in, we will apply 100% of what you have paid up to that point, minus a $50 fee, toward the new instrument. Your payments will continue as before, with the exception of 1/4 to 1/2 violin, where your payment will increase by $5.00 (See pricing).
Extended Repair Options
We offer two types of extended repair coverage for your rental instrument.
- Option A: $5/month Coverage of up to two bow rehairs and one broken bridge only, PER YEAR. Basic shipping is covered both ways for the bow, or the whole instrument in the case of the broken bridge.
- Option B: $10/month Coverage of all necessary repairs in order to keep the instrument in good, playable condition. Basic shipping is covered both ways for the repair. If the instrument will be in the shop for repair longer than 10 working days, at your request we will send a replacement instrument at no cost, after which you must send the damaged instrument directly to us.
Regardless of which option you may choose, remember that you must still pay the monthly payments while the instrument is being repaired. Remember: neither option covers theft, loss, or total loss related to damage. Accessories, such as strings, shoulder rests, tuners, metronomes, and so on, are not covered.
Repairs
If the instrument is ever damaged, let us know so we can determine what is needed to fix it. If it is a repair that we need to do, you should ship it to us as soon as possible so that we can fix it for you. You will need to cover shipping costs for both directions unless you are covered by one of our extended repair coverage options related to the repair needed. Once the instrument is in our possession, we will appraise the damage and contact you with the repair’s total cost. You will still need to pay your monthly payments, and the instrument will not be returned to you until the repair has been paid for.
If you need your repair done quickly, and would rather take your rental to a local repair shop, you must first contact us and let us know. You will be responsible for any and all charges by the local shop, regardless of whether you have chosen our extended repair coverage options or not. If the repaired instrument is returned to us, and the repair is not up to our standards, you will be responsible for any further repair costs.
