Stradivarius International Violin Competition

Charles W. Liu Fine Violins is proud to host the Stradivarius International Violin Competition.  Every three years, players from all around the world, ages 11-17, compete in front of distinguished judges, each vying for the prestigious 1st Prize.  Our 2007 winner, Yoonshin Song, has recently been welcomed into the Detroit Symphony as Concertmaster.  Our 2010 winner, Marie Rossano, continues to excel and has been accepted to the Curtis Institute of Music. Our 2013 winner, Emma Meinrenken, is also enjoying her studies at Curits Institute of Music.

Previous judges include Andres Cardenes (former Concertmaster, Pittsburgh), Stephen Clapp (Dean Emeritus, Juilliard), Victor Danchenko (Professor, Curtis), Nicholas Mann (String Department Chair, Manhattan), Elmar Oliveira (Distinguished Artist in Residence, Lynn University) , and many others
.

The 2016 Stradivarius competition was a huge success! Our international division included 15 young musicians. Hana Chang (13) won the grand prize with her riveting performance. She will be performing in 2017 for the Deer Valley Festival as a featured soloist with the Utah Symphony. Our Utah division included 11 musicians, of whom Rachel Call (14) claimed the 1st Prize. She will be performing in 2017 with the Salt Lake Symphony as a featured soloist.
